Yeah, no kidding. I imagine Richard Rogers' phone is going to be ringing a lot between now and the meeting.

I wonder what happens if there is a tie vote???

Ohh yeah, Sutton is still there for a little while longer. Sounds like he may leave though for a federal appointment.

Not sure what Gustafson's resignation means right now. If I were vote counting right now I would put it at 2-2.

It sure odd to see a Commissioner leave before a crucial vote. Something stinks or perhaps it's "you quit or your fired" for not being onboard.

Sure would be novel for any of 'em to vote against Ahnuhld, Chrisman and their Blue Ribbon Task Farce.

Not sure yet, Ed. Sure seems strange so close to such an important vote. I hope her decision was not related to any kind of health or bad personal situation. If it's not that then my paranoid nature tells me there could have been pressure form above to make sure the vote went a certain way. If Cindy did not feel comfortable going that way (the IPA) then she may have felt her only available option was to get out of it all so as to preserve any future political opportunities.

Before this news I would have guessed that the process would have gone one of the following ways:

    1. IPA with one or two small changes.
    2. IPA with one or two changes but a decision not to implement anything until there is funding.

Frankly, I do not see much difference in either of these. Does not make a bunch of difference to me if they implement today or a year from now. And either of these situations is totally unsupportable to me. What SHOULD happen is that no decision is made until the state's funding is addressed and then once that happens the only proposal that would get my support is 2XA. I will refuse to recognize anything other than this.... But that's just me...

We will know the fix is in if the Commission goes for anything related to the IPA now. That would mean that Richards and/or Kellogg would have to support that option in order to break a tie with Sutton and Rodgers. Both Richards and Kellogg have been very outspoken about the funding issues and for them to get on board with anything with IPA in it would be the ultimate sell out. However, recall the Central Coast when Florez and Kellogg were both acting much the same and the vote was 5-0 in favor of the solution we got down there. I would not be surprised in the least to see a repeat of that decision and should that happen I would hope recreational and commercial fishermen revolt en mass and not recognize any of the decisions made. Furthermore, it should be a clear sign to Southern and Northern California that their simple involvement is dooming them to a predetermined outcome.
