This is a discussion on Commissioner Richards goes after Governor and Chrisman within the MLPA and Marine Protected Areas forums, part of the Politics category; This does not happen very often! In fact, this is something very unique in Sacramento politics. See the attached letter ...
This does not happen very often! In fact, this is something very unique in Sacramento politics. See the attached letter that Dan Richards just sent to Mike Chrisman and the Governor in regards to Chrisman's recent flippant response regarding funding of the MLPA. I am skeptical of every politician out there - as much if not more than anybody - but my respect for Dan Richards grows day by day. This guy is really fighting the good fight - and the right fight. In regards to the MLPA he is dead on point. Way to go Dan.
In the political world, this is getting your ass handed to you.

Comm. Richards has been behind the fisherman from the start. And I firmly believe that if he could stop it, he would. If he has a choise of proposal, I think he will pick 2XA. He is "Our Commissionar"
He gets my vote, for a great letter
It's not April 1st, by any chance, is it?
Nice to have someone, in a position of authority, state what we have been saying for a few years! Maybe, it will open some ears. Can't wait to see a reply, if any!!!
I think Dan is an Alternative 0 man.
It's the only alternative the state can afford.
We have a special letter coming from the counties up north for Secretary Chrisman. Stay tuned.

My God! someone is actually listening and knows what he is talking about. I am believing in this man more and more and I must say he has my respect and admiration. What he has done, is give a reality check to this process. We can only hope his fellow Commissioners, not Jim Kellogg, are aware of their charge as well, and take the appropriate action when the time comes.
On Wednesday the Commission will meet and the ambiance should be quite interesting. I had decided NOT to go to any more of these meetings but may reconsider just to support Commissioner Richards.
I would not be surprised if, at the Commission meeting, Ken Wisemen gets up and says there is adequate funding supplied by private sources to complete the MLPAI. If this does happen, I think it is time for the Legislature to begin some real investigateing into the reasons why this funding is being provided and what the motives behind the funding are. I can't believe members of the Legislature are unaware of what is going on with the MLPAI. I can only assume Julie and the Moores have spent some serious money somewhere, or everywhere, to make this all happen.
It is time for the people of California to look at who is about to take over control of the States natural resources claiming they are doing so to "protect" its ecosystems and habitat. I always ask myself WHY are these corporations spending so much money on all the propaganda, campaigns, organizations, and laws. I know it is aquaculture they are after but isn't there a better way, a way that doesn't do so much collateral damage to so many Californian's. Perhaps not............

WOW! A commissioner acting like a commissioner. Chrisman must feel like he's been bitch slapped! It is comforting to know there are at least two independent commissioners who take their charge seriously and are not in the pockets of special interest organizations. I still say 2/XA has a chance and Commissioners Kellogg and Richards are reasonable men who can be instrumental in achieving this goal.

I object!
The MLPA process is a travesty! It's a travesty of a mockery of a sham of a mockery of a trasvesty of two mockeries of a sham!
The letter is indeed awesome. Here's the reality. There is no warden in all of Mendo to enforce EXISTING rules...how in the hell can you move forward with adding a whole new layer of enforcement, especially when teachers like my wife are getting pink slips because of state deficits. Welcome to reality, thanks Dan!!!
