I picked Mike Starr up at 7am and we drove to Lodi. We then drove around Lodi for about an hour looking for breakfast. We definitely felt like we were stuck again.
There was a lot of discussion regarding financing the MLPA. the fishing community was represented well. The environmental community also had plenty of advocates. They were pushing how much public/private parnerships would help to finance this creature. Point Reyes and the Farallon Santuary stepped up and offered their help in policing the MPAs. Of course, they also offered their assistance in research. In my opinion this would just allow the Big Bad Wolf(ana the Packard Foundation) to live in the hen house.
Mike and I pressed the financial aspect of this process. I specifically asked what type of program is in place for the Central Coast Region. After all, we are two years into that area of the MLPA. Surely they have begun their studies, haven't they?

I object!
The MLPA process is a travesty! It's a travesty of a mockery of a sham of a mockery of a trasvesty of two mockeries of a sham!

Hey Matt, Good to see you at the meeting today. Good comments also.
The Central Coast had an monitoring program headed by Rick Starr but it was halted due to the budget constraints put on the OPC. One question I forgot to ask today was if it had been started up yet. I do not believe it has but I wanted to get an updated reply.
More to come. Ed Tavasieff

Ed,
I did ask if the monitoring had been started or if there are even plans for the monitoring. After all, it has been two years since the F&G Commission meeting that made the final decision regarding the Central Coast.

Great point.... Ned and I were questioning this from Day 1....
Just want to kill fish!
LODI...What a beautiful spot!!! Yes, Cate and I made it to the meeting too. In listening (which I don't do well) I think that 2/5 of the Commission is wondering where the money is going to come from...not just today, but for years to come. What will it COST? Who would by something if was going to cost between 6 to 43 million dollars. I for one, would not sign the contract. And I don't feel they even know if 43 million will cover it. Cost is a major factor to all of us with the economy beings what it is today. NO GUARANTEE WHAT TOMORROW WILL BRING.
Anyway, enjoy seeing all and had a great dinner at "Foster's Bighorn" in Rio Vista on the way home. See you all at the next showdown...tight lines![]()
That estimate of 6 to 43 million is such a joke.... I am surprised that Sonke could even read that into the record.....It would be my feeling that if Sutton recluses himself which he said he wouldn't do...we will see Kellog and Richards against it and Rogers and Gustfufson for it.....what happens in a tie??? This whole MLPA will never enhance fishing for the recreational community...just think what 35million could do every year for habitat reconstruction and hatchery reform and improvement......I hope the Legislature; gets it kicked back in,their lap...then we could witness a real circle jerk...rat fuck mess.....
EdO Fish&Chips
MY mistake in typing...it was 9 to 43 million. anyway it is still a lot of $$$$$'s to spend that could be going to positive projects for the future, like Ed said. Does anyone know how much they have spend in the CC. NCC and S so far? Just in the planing stage alone...lots of dollars spent. Haulting the studied in the central study area...must mean that money is short. Dont they see the overall picture? Send it back to the Capital Dome and leave it there.
Business here on the north coast presently are closing the doors...gone forever! In the economy things are tough in small and big towns...then they want to thrwo this OUNKNOWN factor on top of us. "that scares me"
Thanks for going, I was gonna go but ended up having to attend a funeral.
