Saltwater Reports: Ben Sleeter (Half Moon Bay, CA) After much debate about hunting for tuna with Mike Mack we decided to try a few drifts for seabass in front of the harbor. Things started fast. Had several take downs and boxed three fish by Noon. Called another boat over and they had one and lost one. Easy decision to fish them again today. Fished with Rick Ross and his son on Johns Farallon. Had god action all day long with one flurry where we got three in about 30 minutes. Ended the day with 6 to about 42 lbs. Friday's big one went 46 lbs. Really good bite throughout the day even with a pretty good wind and fast drift. Flylined baits did best. When the wind started we went to a sliding sinker rig that got bit well.

You did not save any for me, Tried the late bite heading out as you left . Saw two fish caught from 2:30 to go home at 7:30. Saw some nice big readings on the fish finder but not hit, runs or errors for me. Lot's of Jelly's and a bit windy, white capping. That fog will be in thick and low again tomorrow, blowin in as we came home
Nice meeting you, Dave. Was the fleet still out a bit deeper?

120 to 160 same general area, I did get a diver report of them hiding in the kelp beds near canneries. I gave it a shot but Jelly's so thick gave up quick. Watch the zoo tomorrow and decide SUN-Mon. Lot's of bird activity I jumped on but all ended up being lions chasin bait up
WOW!!! and I thought San Quentin was the WSB capitol.....WTG Ben and Steve.....

Great job on the 6-pak, guy!!! Heard rumors about HMB, but the Monterey is too good to be chasing rumors.

Very nice !!! Need to drag my ass down there .
WTG!! Fresh dead squid. May I ask how you aquired the fresh squid? I've had trouble jigging them up. Tried the regular jigs and a sabiki with very little to show for the efforts... Any tips you care to share?
Thanks, Jonesz
The We were using these Izorline gannions and jigged when we had good marks on the meter. Also helps to have good frozen bait like the stuff we got from Porter and Pence.

Hmmm, that's the exact one I was using. Am I just not detecting the bites? I felt pecks on the way down, but never on the way up. Were you jigging or just a steady retrieve up? Fast/slow? I'm just trying to get a handle on making the bait. Thanx
No jigging.....if you feel a jingle crank it up fast.
If you let it downward they slide off the spikes.
Good hunters never die .They just stay loaded.
