Ben and Steve headed down to Monterey today, so we hooked up at the dock and were on the water before first light. By the time we had our first drift in a good size fleet was on the water. And it got bigger. First fish came for me about seven, 47# with Ben on the gaff. Steve was second fish with a 38#, and Ben picked up the third. I missed one later in the morning and we had a good share of light bites also. Bottom line, killer day on the water. Good company, good time. - Al ...

Left Pillar Point at 8am for the long haul. Lines in the water at Noon. Then, from 2pm to 3pm, all hell broke loose at 36.31 x 123.36. Boated 10 and lost a few. Trolled in that area (61 degrees) for nothing until 5:30pm (same general spot) and boated another 16 when we quite at 8pm. Tossed out the sea anchor, BBQ'd some nice pork chops and settled in the for the night. Slept late (6am). Only drifted 7.7 miles during 9 hours overnight. Lines in at 6:30am at the same #'s above. Had an immediate double, then a quad then a few singles and stopped at 35 fish at 10:30am. Best fishing trip I ever had. Great, great time. I'll be canning for quite some time... ...

This was a plan that was a long time in the making. My long time bro Brian and I would do a Gualala run and get in the ocean for some Abs. Brian and I have been diving together for 25 years and just haven't had the time. It had been about four years since we had gone on a trip. We were not sure if we would remember how to do it. In fact, Brian hadn't been on those roads for so long I had to help him out on which way to go. "That's right, take river road to the end and and stop for rehydration". ...

I was watching the bouy on Weds. when my phone rang and Ben offered me a ride with himself, Steve Dodsworth, and Chopper. Having never been offshore around here (tuna are a LONG paddle) I was super stoked to get an invite on a sweet boat with a great group of guys. After lots of scheming and a bunch of intel-sharing they decided to go long...real long. We loaded up and shoved off at midnight. Ben and Steve's new Davis is absolutely sick. Any apprehension I had about running in the dark was mitigated by the hypnotic powers of $8M in Accurates and rocket launchers glowing in the neon deck lights. Shameless man-bling at its finest... ...

First of all thanks for twisting my arm to fish today Al Edwards.;-) We fished out of Monterey today for 5 salmon by 10:30. Looked like we would get early limits but couldn't get that last one. Fish went from 12# - 18#. Started out straight off the point in 350' of water and trolled south along the ledge in beutifull weather all day. One fish on straight bait, one on squid kajiki, three on purple haze. We were leateraly dragging the bottom with our 15# balls. Trying to keep the ball from catching the bottom was not an easy task. I lost (2) 15# balls, (2) flashers, (2) hochies, and (2) rubber snubbers......Was it worth it one might ask. Hell yea, it was! Good luck and be safe. ...

Well this time of the year as the weather starts to warm, I start hearing the "call of the frog", so I rounded up the gigs and hit the swamps with buddy Kyle for a exploring mission. It was alittle to windy for a little lake that we wanted to check out so we went to plan B and started hitting some ditches. It was a slow pick but we did box 31 nice hoppers on the night along with some good laughs !! I love Redneckin in the swamps !!! A few photos for you viewing pleasure ...

Here's the Seabass report! We made our maiden 1pm to 1pm Seabass Special yesterday. This trip was sold out 2 months ago and with the slow go on the seabass counts we saw a few anglers back out of the trip last minute thinking the bite was not going to materialize. We left the dock @ 1:00 in search the right kind and was awarded with the targeted species. Bring the 40, 50 and 60! A great group of anglers. Big fish and plenty of opportunity throughout the trip. and a handful of Halibut to go with the mix. ...

Just returned from fishing and playing for a week in Sitka Alaska. We all had a great time in an amazing setting. First off I want to thank Chuck (Finseeker) for the suggestion of Sitka. It was a perfect fit for this crew which consisted of friends Randy, Dave, Kevin and my son Alex and me. I'll break this report down into sections, so if you just want to see the fishing scroll to that point. The Boat, Captain and Crew. We fished with Sitka Rose Sportfishing with Captain Rey Gutierrez and his deck hand Gary Nikola. The boat is a custom built Aluminum 28' single diesel with a large pilot house. Perfect for the conditions in Alaska. He used a small out board to troll as did most all boats in Sitka, even boats with two outboards used another small trolling motor. ...
