I had cut out a number of holes in the liner when dry fitting the bracket.

I wanted the washers against the transom, not against the liner as it isn't rigid enough to support the bracket. After considering a number of ways of covering the holes, I came up with a different idea. I decided to make the part of the liner immediately behind the washers rigid.

To do that I first packed the bolt holes in the transom with foam rods to keep the resin from going out the holes. Worms!

Then I packed the void between the liner and the transom with epoxy and cabosil...

I had saved most of the pieces I cut out of the liner. I put a little more thickened resin on the back for good measure...

and then squished it in place...

and squeeged off the excess...

Shazam!

With inside and the outside of the transom done, its time for gelcoat. The dreaded fish hold is also ready for paint. Woohoo!!!

Looks cool Sean. Its really coming together. I wish I could be there helping but I got deployed to the gulf (Grand Isle, LA) to help asses the oil spill. I'm spending my days cruising through some of the most beautiful salt marshes assessing how bad the oil is ****ing it up. Downright depressing, but that hardly explains it. Love reading your posts and can't wait to fish on this beauty.
    Take care,
    Joe

Sounds like a cool if not somewhat sad mission. Fixing that mess (or at least helping) is something to feel good about. Thanks for the encouragement. You're gonna like the next few updates.

Although I did see a 20lb. red drum and a 30-40 lb. black drum the other day finning!
